Initial phase and development
The site was developed with Joomla for the main part of the site and WordPress for the blog. The design was chosen based on a template which was improved to adapt it to the corporate identity.
A hierarchy of categories and articles was implemented in Joomla to create the product catalog. Each product page includes a brief review, a photo gallery and also a contact form that visitors can use to request more information about the product.
A system for photo management was integrated to Joomla that easily enables to upload any photo size and generate thumbnails with a watermark automatically. This makes managing photo galleries an easy task.
Improvements were made to the system cache and we worked with the Google tools to improve the performance of the site as well as the configuration of Google Analytics to record the different types of conversions.
The blog was implemented using one of the best systems for this purpose, WordPress. This was fully integrated with the site's identity. With it the administrators can create blog articles and associate them with a product in Joomla, which provides information for two modules that automatically display related articles and / or products, useful for visitors to have an easier navigation.
Finally, we made the integration of the site with the most popular social networks to enhance the site community and provide new ways of communication with the visitors.
Migration from J2.5 to J3
In 2018 we migrated Joomla from v2.5 to version J3. At this stage, we fully made a new redesign of both main Joomla! website and internal WordPress blog. In order to maintain consistency with both systems, the same template was installed and the necessary modifications were developed to achieve the desired branding look and feel.
We integrate a custom option in Simple Image Gallery Pro to allow our client to easily upload photos and create each gallery, add it to the correct section and configure them for each product page. To complete this stage, we set up a new dedicated virtual server, setting up all the necessary features from scratch, configuration of sending emails and SSL certificate.
